Founded in 1897 by Swedish immigrants, Bethesda Lutheran Church has been one of the most-involved churches in the Morrison, Illinois, community. From the MOB (Men of Bethesda) to the Wednesday Quilters, and for everyone in between, we at Bethesda aim to improve the lives of individuals as we spread God's word within our communities and around the world.
For more information on how to get involved, please contact the church office, or any member of the group you are interested in.
Bethesda Lutheran Church
Thank you for visiting our website! Bethesda Lutheran Church is a spiritual home for about 380 individuals and it is also a community centered around worshiping God and serving our neighbor as the living body of our Lord Jesus Christ. We welcome you to become a part of our faith community of people who make us all feel like family. As you navigate our site, you will learn more about the rich history of this 123-year-old congregation.
Dear Disciples of Jesus of Bethesda Lutheran Church,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! It is with great sadness that we announce that we will be suspending in person Worship Services, until further notice. We will continue to livestream our Worship Services on Facebook, and post them later on YouTube.
Yesterday, October 22, the State of Illinois tightened COVID-19 restrictions in Region 1, and are restricting gatherings to groups of 10 people or less, beginning Sunday, October 25.
For our Worship on October 25, we will not be celebratng Holy Communion. However, in the following weeks, we will resume celebrating Holy Communion. You are welcome to come by the church during the week to pick up prepackaged Communion elements. You are also welcome to use your own bread and wine or grape juice, as we worship together online.
We do not know how long these new restrictions will continue, but we do know that God is with us, whether we worship in person or online.
May you all stay safe during this uncertain time and remain certain that we are all in God’s hands.

*ANNUAL MEETING UPDATE*
At the Council meeting on Monday, January 11, options on how to facilitate the annual meeting for this year were discussed. In order to be as inclusive as possible for all members, the annual meeting will be held this year via a phone conference call on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. Council members will be present at the church during the meeting, socially distanced and wearing masks, and keeping the # of people within the space within state mitigation guidelines. Bethesda members will be given a # to call in and once we feel we have all members who will be calling in to participate in the conference call, the meeting will begin.
Information with more details and instructions (including the # to call) will be send out via email or snail mail to all members as soon as we have it available. An annual meeting packet has also been emailed to all members we have on our contact list. (*If you are a member and you did not receive one and wish to be included, please contact us at the church office - info is on our "about" page, or in your church yearbook.)
In the meantime, please help spread the word and share this bit of info with any of our Bethesda members that would not have an email address and would not have been able to see this message. Thank you so much!
