Quilters
On Wednesday mornings, volunteers gather to construct and assemble tied quilts for Lutheran World Relief (LWR). We meet at 9:30 a.m. every week throughout the year, taking breaks during the holidays as needed. In addition to making and sending quilts to LWR, we also collect donations from the entire congregation of items and money to assemble personal care kits, school kits, and sewing kits that benefit those in need across the world.
In 2014, out congregation assembled and sent 771 quilts, 48 personal care kits, 15 sewing kits, and 120 school kits. Our group also gives a quilt to every graduating high school student.
We have donated locally to victims of house fires and natural disasters, in addition to giving quilts to organization to auction off to raise funds. We are very proud of our outreach in these areas. If you would like more information, feel free to contact any WELCA member of call the church office. All members of the church and community are welcome to participate.
